This dance of objects, landscape and associations intermingles moving tents and dancers’ bodies to create a kaleidoscopic choreography hovering between abstraction and intimacy. The stark, graphic imagery this produces alludes to current social and political events, and our shared human experience. The uniquely textured, geometric landscape of the Hondsbossche Seawall plays host to this continuously shifting carnival of forms.
“Point Taken gave me the opportunity to escape the known arena of the theatre and test my mettle against a far more mercurial opponent. Electing to film outside meant that the stakes, the risk, the drama and the conflict were very real. There was no need to fabricate struggle, or feign the unknown, as is often the case inside the relative safety of the theatre. Instead, we were tangled in a dance with the wind, a partner much larger than us. What’s Unfolding is the transparent depiction of that meeting.”
